Common questions about Home Media Hub, and an email address for anything they don’t cover.

Frequently asked

Common questions.

What state is Home Media Hub in?

Home Media Hub Manager 0.0.10 is published for Windows as an unsigned preview, and every server gets a 14-day trial. It installs the server as a system service and looks after the connection, license, settings and media folders. Keys aren’t on sale yet, and the iPhone app isn’t on the App Store.

Can I buy Home Media Hub today?

Not yet. It will be $100, paid once, and that price won't change. The checkout stays closed until the 5 things on the pricing page are done. Nothing is being collected in the meantime: there's no pre-order, no deposit, and no waiting list. You can download Home Media Hub and try it in the meantime.

What do I get for $100?

A key that activates Home Media Hub Server on one computer at a time, Windows or macOS, for as long as you want to run it. The server is activated once. After that it checks its license itself, offline. The web app and the iPhone app are free.

How does the trial work?

Every server gets 14 days of full use from its first start, with no key and no sign-up. When the trial ends, browsing, search, playback and sign-in keep working. Scans, thumbnails, clip exports, commands and plugins wait in the queue until a key is entered, and then they run. Nothing is lost because of the license.

Is there a Docker version?

Not for download. Home Media Hub Manager is how it’s installed. A server that already runs in Docker uses a key the same way, and takes the key’s one seat.

Does anything go through DWMM Holdings?

No file, ever. A server contacts us to activate or release its license, and the manager reads one small file when you check for updates. The privacy policy lists exactly what those requests contain.

Is any of it open source?

Home Media Hub is paid software, but it includes ffmpeg, which is free software under its own license. Your key and these terms don’t apply to ffmpeg. The open-source notice in the legal section says which license applies and where its source is.

What happens when I replace a server?

Release its seat from the Licence screen in Home Media Hub Manager. If the old computer is gone, use the My servers page. A key can release three seats in any 30 days.

Is it a subscription?

No. There’s no subscription, and there’s no second charge. There’s no higher tier and no feature held back for a paid version of Home Media Hub.

Can I get a refund?

If it doesn’t work for you, ask within 30 days and you’ll be refunded. You don’t need a reason, and there’s no form to fill in or anything to prove. Your email asking for the refund is enough, and it will be honored. Before you buy, the 14-day trial lets you try Home Media Hub with your own drives.

Who handles the payment?

Stripe handles payment. You enter your card details on Stripe’s checkout page and Stripe processes them. DWMM Holdings never sees, receives or stores them.

Why announce a price you can't take yet?

The price is decided, and the release isn't ready. The license terms, the refund window, and the $100 price are set and won't change. What's left is the 5 items on the pricing page, each a piece of engineering rather than a date. Posting the price now lets you decide whether it's something you'd want to buy before all that is done.

Does it need an internet connection?

Home Media Hub runs on your machine. If it has a network feature, that feature is described on this site, and the core product works without it.
